Krug secures pair of Top 5 finishes, Third Place championship finish at COTA

Austin, TEXAS, December 2, 2022 --- Bobby Krug claimed a fourth-place and a fifth-place finish this past week in the final round of the Skip Barber Formula Race Series at Circuit of the Americas. In the final points standings, Krug finishes third place overall behind Elvis Rankin and Jeshua Alianell.



In the first qualifying session, Krug was set for a Top 5 qualifying time but a spin exiting Turn 11 put Krug to the back of the grid. Qualiyfing 2 was better for Krug, placing the No. 6 Skip Barber Formula car in the fifth place with a time of 2:23.892.

Within the first 3 laps of Race 1, Krug fought his way through the middle of the field and made up five positions. Throughout the second half of the race, Krug defending off Lawley for the fifth-place position. Krug showed pace in the technical sections but struggled on the straights. In a tight last lap battle, Krug was able to take the final spot inside the Top 5.

With his fifth-place starting position for Race 2, Krug had a good opening lap, staying with the Top 4 drivers in the first lap. For the majority of the race, Krug battled Nicky Glazier for the fourth place position as the Top 3 drivers outpaced the field. In the final lap, Krug was able to make an outside pass in Turn 19 to take the extra position, finishing fourth in the final race of the season.

"I wish we were able to bring home more hardware but all things considered, we made a great recovery from our qualifying sessions," Krug said. "We continued to improve throughout the whole week and finished strong with two Top-5 finishes."

At the end of the 14-race series, Krug finished third overall with 362 points, 30 points back from the 2022 Champion Rankin and 22 points back from the Runner-Up Alianell.

"Congratulations to Elvis and Jeshua on their strong seasons; it was fun racing with them and I'm excited to see where their future in racing takes them, I know they're going far.
